Copenhagen's Coziest Craft Beer Bars to Enjoy in the Winter
Share
We have all heard that Danish word "hygge". It's a Danish word that describes a certain feeling of coziness, contentment, and often in good company of others. Copenhagen in the summertime is truly amazing with the long daylight hours and outdoor vibes, but the winter is when you can really discover Danish hygge. There is nothing like escaping the cold, wet darkness to relax with a great beer with good people, candlelight, and maybe even a blanket.
Here is a list of some of Copenhagen's coziest craft beer bars that you should add to your winter itinerary followed by a map to see all locations mentioned:
Tap 21 Craft Beer
Nestled on a quiet street in Frederiksberg is a small craft beer that combines the feel of a small, local Danish bodega, but with a fantastic selection of craft beer. They have 10 taps that are always curated well to have a mix of beer styles for everyone, and don't miss out on the bottle/can selection full of hype craft beers, and heavy hitting Belgian beers.
What makes it cozy?
It's one of those places where you can often have a quiet one-on-one conversation, but the place feels so small and familiar that you can easily strike up a conversation with others. If you are lucky enough to be served by the owner, Bo, he is easily engaged in friendly conversation.
Getting There
Frederiksberg is a curious neighborhood of Copenhagen since it is actually its own town that is surrounded by Copenhagen Municipality, and easily walkable from the City Center. Tap 21 is near the Copenhagen Lakes, and just a 10 minute walk from either the Forum Metro (M1, M2), or the Frederiksberg Allé Metro (M3) stations. If you are exploring by bicycle, it is just an 8 minute bike ride from Copenhagen Central Station.
Bar' Godt
If you need a good beer after strolling the shops on Strøget, a good tip would be to visit Bar' Godt. "Bar' Godt" is a Danish play on words that could either mean "Bar Good" or "Just Good", and this place is good indeed. It has a connection to the Danish brewery, Alefarm Brewing Co., so will usually find about half of their twelve taps dedicated to Alefarm beers. That's a good thing since they are producing some quality liquids. Bar' Godt also has a great selection of cans and bottles available to drink-in or take home.
What makes it cozy?
Bar' Godt is a small, but not-too-small, basement craft beer bar. Dim lights and candlelight inspire warm conversation. The bar staff is always friendly and knowledgeable about what they are serving.
Getting There
Bar' Godt is in the city center nearby many sites and attractions, but also in a more quiet scenic area. It is only a three-minute walk from the Round Tower ("Rundetårnet").
Godt Øl
Related to Bar' Godt is their original beer bar, Godt Øl (meaning "Good Beer"). It's another basement bar with a great draft lineup.
What makes it cozy?
Escape the cold, and head downstairs where you will find eclectic seating nooks to enjoy your beer over calm conversation.
Getting There
With stairs that go into the basement from a street corner, this is a place you could easily miss. Located in the Gammel Strand area, it is easily accessed by foot from the Gammel Strand metro station, or just a moment's walk from the Copenhagen Central Station, or even Nyhavn, or the famous Strøget shopping street. It's very close to Hop House City further down this list.
Peders Craft Beer Bar
If you want to find the most hype beers in a cozy atmosphere, Peders is the place to be. If you don't know about this bar, you would surely miss it walking by. You enter this basement bar from a set of old stairs on a historical street.
Inside you will find candlelit tables, dapper-dressed bartenders, and a draft beer list that often includes freshly imported hype beers from the USA or other European countries, as well as great examples of local Danish craft. It is also a place where the most sought after craft breweries across the globe will participate in a tap takeover event. Do watch your head as some of the ceilings in here are quite low!

Getting There
Located in Copenhagen's historic Latin Quarter, Peders is in a basement on Sankt Peders Stræde. You can easily walk there from City Hall Square (Rådhuspladsen), and it is right next to Sankt Peders Bageri, Copenhagen's oldest bakery! Peders doesn't serve food, so grabbing a sticky cinnamon bun from the bakery to enjoy with your beer would surely elevate your experience.
Bicycle Brewing
If you want to visit a cozy brewery in Copenhagen, the Østerbro neighborhood has a wonderful hidden gem for you with Bicycle Brewing, and it's a bit of a 2-for-1! Just around the corner from Bicycle Brewing you can also find Bicycle Cidery where they are serving their creative ciders along with their beers.
What makes it cozy?
If you like to find wonderful places off the typical tourist path, this is your place. It's on a quiet city street that you would probably not find yourself at otherwise. Bicycle Brewing's seating area is small, and if you are lucky you can grab the small nook with a window down the little hallway for experiencing your beer in your own cozy corner. Pro-tip: It is also nearby the famous Juno Bakery. Grab a Danish pastry to bring with you to Bicycle!
Getting There
Bicycle Brewing is an easy 8-minute walk from the Poul Henningsens Plads Metro (M3) station, making it super easy to get to if traveling from either the Copenhagen Central Station or Kongens Nytorv.
Hop House City
Hop House is a legendary beer bar staple in Copenhagen. Their Amager beer bar has a loyal following, but Hop House recently opened up their newest location in the Copenhagen City Center near Gammel Strand. It has a well-curated list of craft beers from both local and foreign breweries, and has a bit of a British pub vibe.
What makes it cozy?
While Hop House's newest location is yet-to-be-discovered by tourists, this cozy pub feels like a local joint right in the city center. You can seat yourself at one of the pub-like tables, or head upstairs where it is often quieter.
Hop House is also serves up hot meat pies from New Zealand-style pie company Wild Kiwi Pies. They make for an incredible beer pairing, especially in the winter.
Getting There
If you are in the city center, getting to Hop House is probably a short scenic walk for you. It is just a moment's walk from the Central Station, Nyhavn, and the famous Strøget shopping street. The nearest metro station is Gammel Strand.
